I will tell you.

You see, E-Commerce is one of the easiest ways to start making money on the Internet.

I know this because this is majorly what I do.

But, to be successful, you have to have things in the right place and at the right time.

But, first, what is E-Commerce?

What is E-Commerce?

According to Investopedia,  The term electronic commerce (e-commerce) refers to a business model that allows companies and individuals to buy and sell goods and services over the Internet.

E-commerce operates in four major market segments and can be conducted over computers, tablets, smartphones, and other smart devices.

Nearly every imaginable product and service is available through e-commerce transactions, including books, music, plane tickets, and financial services such as stock investing and online banking. As such, it is considered a very disruptive technology.

E-Commerce is the basic concept of selling through electronic means. In this case, physical products.

So, if you sell physical products using any electronic means like social media platforms, search engines, blogs, E-Commerce Websites, etc, you are doing e-commerce.

And while this process is practically simple, at least, on paper, people have struggled to make it work.

So, if you are in this category, let’s look at the things that have made your E-Commerce Journey a hard one.

Impatience.

Oftentimes, people reach out to me and seek guidance. Then, I discover that they are making the same mistakes that I made at the start.

1. Impatience.

You see, most people jump into E-Commerce as a fast way to make money online, and while this can be true, it Is not a get-rich-quick system.

E-Commerce is a business model, as such, to be successful you must have some core understanding of running a business.

A lot of people are impatient with their products, they jump from product to product, hoping for that golden winning product that would explode their earnings but this is not how it works.

Even golden products need patience and strategy to sell too.

To be successful with your E-Commerce business, you have to find a way to stay patient and consistent with your products, your ideas, and your general E-Commerce goal.

Pick an E-Commerce niche and be patient with it… You don’t have to jump from product to product in search of an elusive winning product.

The product is usually not the problem, marketing is.

So, you must learn to be patient to be successful with E-Commerce.

2. Poor Digital Marketing Knowledge.

Digital Marketing is an essential tool for E-Commerce.

This is because online is getting more competitive each passing day and to start a Successful E-Commerce Business, you will need to have the knowledge required to use these digital platforms to grow an audience, and in return, sales.

The bulk of your success as an E-Commerce vendor will be enjoyed online,  After all, that’s the basis of the entire business model.

Facebook and Instagram Adverts are key factors to achieve this.

So, you must have a decent knowledge of how to use Facebook and Instagram to grow sales.

If you can’t do this yourself, you would be needing the services of a professional social media marketer.

3. Bad Offers.

If you sell a physical product, you’d most likely have competitors.

It is your offer that will help your potential customer decide if they should opt for you or your competitors.

Creating a really good offer is important, and you have to master this.

Because people buy offers.

If you have an offer that is not so appealing, people would most likely not buy from you.

4. Lack of Proper Product Testing.

The basic thing with E-Commerce is to test the product you intend to sell.

You get a few products and test them to see if they are going to sell.

Testing is done in many ways but most commonly through running sponsored campaigns to see the general reaction of your prospective customers. Failures in E-Commerce will be severe if you don’t test properly.

If you chose to sell what everyone is selling, you will be another person in the growing competition.

You should test several products, then, settle for the one that sells.

5. Generic Products.

Most people just want to sell what everyone is selling already. This would make sense if it was a fairly new product.

Other than that, it would be best if you focused on finding a product that solves a really big problem for your potential audience.

Also, these products shouldn’t be generic.

People buy things for basically two reasons, pain and pleasure.

When doing your product research, focus on their pain points to find a product that they will hungrily want to buy.

Conclusion.

While E-Commerce can fetch you a lot of money online, both as a side hustle or a full-time business, it is still very important to do the right things.
